The Top Rated Anti Snoring Devices on the Market

Top rated anti snoring devicesSnoring can be a nuisance to deal with. Excessive snoring can keep you from getting quality sleep, and it’s no picnic for a spouse, either.

Don’t get me wrong, snoring isn’t an unusual thing–in fact, 45% of normal adults snore on occasion.

The problem is that 75% of people who snore on a regular basis suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, a condition that restricts normal breathing, which can increase the risk of developing heart disease.

So not only can snoring be aggravating, but it can negatively impact your health as well.

So how can you get rid of a snoring problem?

Finding a solution can be frustrating; after all, you’re not even awake when you’re doing it, so how can you know for sure what it takes to fix it?

Well, one of the best ways to alleviate snoring is to utilize some type of anti-snoring device.

These devices, known as “oral appliances”, generally fall into one of two categories: Tongue Stabilizing Devices (TSD) or Mandibular Advancement Devices (MAD).

Here are the basics on each type of device:

Tongue Stabilizing Devices

A Tongue Stabilizing Device is a small plastic oral appliance that you wear on your lips.

It resembles a pacifier in shape and design, and it has an opening into which you can insert and rest your tongue.

The purpose of the device is to keep your tongue in a position that won’t block your airways as you sleep; this is particularly helpful for people who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea.

Tongue Stabilizing Devices are definitely a great alternative to other more cumbersome sleep apnea treatments such as the CPAP machine.

Mandibular Advancement Devices

Mandibular Advancement Devices are the most commonly used anti-snoring device; they resemble the mouth guards that are typically used by athletes.

MADs fit over your dental arches (upper and lower), and they gently ease the lower jaw forward in order to keep your airways open while you sleep.

Choosing the Best Anti Snoring Device – What to Look For

There are dozens of anti-snoring devices on the market, but not all devices are created equal. Below are a few key points to consider when choosing the best device:

* Materials – The best oral appliances are constructed of firm but flexible plastic that will conform to the contours of your mouth, while still providing firm support where needed. Many people rinse their device in hot water before using to make it more malleable.

* Comfort – Make sure that your device is acceptably comfortable, while still being able to do the job. In other words, your oral appliance should not be so small that it keeps falling out of your mouth while you sleep, but it also shouldn’t be so bulky that it distracts you from sleeping.

* Durability – The best anti-snoring devices will be flexible, durable and built for multiple uses while still remaining sanitary and efficient.

The Top 5 Anti Snoring Devices

5. VitalSleep

vitalsleep-deviceThis device is made from a flexible, non-BPA latex material, which ensures that it is safe for regular use in the mouth.

There are two sizes available–regular and small–but I can only comment on the regular size because I’m such a big mouth (sorry, I couldn’t resist).

VitalSleep is what is known as a “boil and bite” MAD, which means that you have to let it boil in hot water first, and then after it cools off, you bite down firmly on it so that it can conform to the particular shape of your mouth.

This device holds your jaw in a slightly forward-extended position so that your airways stay open as you sleep.

I found it to be reasonably comfortable, and softer than some of the less popular brands, which is a good thing.

If jaw positioning is the source of your snoring, VitalSleep is a decent choice.

4. Sleeptight Mouthpiece

sleep tight mouthpiece anti-snoring deviceSleeptight Mouthpiece is an FDA-cleared prescription MAD with several cool features which actually gives you a reading of the jaw advancement with a simple boil and bite one time fit for your convenience.

Sleeptight Mouthpiece is comprised of dental lab quality polymers, so it’s definitely durable, with an average usable life of 11-13 months.

I definitely think that Sleeptight Mouthpiece is one of the better MADs out there, with a trial price of $9.95, it makes it a rick-free options for trial without the upfront cost.

I didn’t appreciate the previous price too much either, which I paid, especially in light of my discoveries regarding the next three (less expensive) devices. However you do get what you pay for.

3. ZQuiet

ZQuietThis is a hinged MAD that is flexible enough to allow for more natural breathing and movement.

Most MADs, once inserted, do not allow you to breathe through your mouth anymore; you basically have to keep your mouth shut and breathe through your nose.

This is okay, except for those nights where you might have a stuffy nose, at which point it can turn into a crude form of torture.

The hinged design of ZQuiet really proved helpful in allowing me to still breathe through my mouth without any hassle or discomfort.

In addition, with ZQuiet there is no “boil and bite” required; it’s ready to use right out of the box, which I found to be ultra-convenient. Read about Z Quiet here.

2. SnoreRX

SnoreRx mouthpieceI’m a fan of SnoreRX because it is feature-rich and functionally efficient.

SnoreRX also features a calibrator function similar to the SnoreMD device, but with SnoreRX, you can perform forward micro-adjustments to the tune of only 10mm at a time.

This is a huge help for those of us who have experienced jaw soreness from using MADs without this type of functionality.

Another thing that really appealed to me about SnoreRX is the fact that it is very well-constructed; there are no rubber bands, screws, rods, or springs that could potentially cause damage to your mouth or teeth.

Other features that set SnoreRX apart include PosiLock, which locks in your desired setting, and PosiFlow, which assures that you have maximum airflow while sleeping.

I found SnoreRX to be very effective.

1. Good Morning Snore Solution

Good Morning Snore Solution MouthpieceIn an industry where MADs tend to dominate the landscape, the Good Morning Snore Solution is a TSD that has earned my number-one spot.

This anti-snoring mouthpiece stands apart from the crowd due to its ease of use as well as its superior comfort.

It feels much more “natural” in my mouth than the MADs that I’ve tried, and it took far less time to adjust to using it than I experienced with the other devices.

Another advantage of the Good Morning Snore Solution is that it’s not “boil-and-bite”; they do, however, include a Polident tablet so that you can drop it into a solution for cleaning before use.

When you insert the device (which resembles a child’s pacifier), a small bulb protrudes out of the mouth, which you squeeze to get the air out of before inserting your tongue into it.

This creates a suction effect that keeps your tongue nice and flat throughout the night, preventing it from flopping back into your throat as you sleep, which is one of the main causes of snoring.

Although I had read dozens of positive reviews about the Good Morning Snore Solution, I knew still that I had to try it out for myself before I could be fully sold on it.

Needless to say, I’m hooked! The Good Morning Snore Solution works great, and my wife has given it her official thumbs up as well–which, as you know, is the ultimate seal of approval.
